For my newsletter, I created a second grade class, so for this example I will be using the same. Based on the ELA Technology standards for a second grade class, I feel like I would be most comfortable teaching the standard: LAFS.2.L.3.4. This standard calls for the students to determine and clarify word meanings based on their grade level. Using examples such as context clues within a sentence, prefixes, and root words. This seems like it would be a pretty easy standard to tackle fi i were to teach it at the moment. One that I would need a little more work on is the standard: LAFS.2.W.2.6, because it asks for the use of a variety of digital tools, and I am not a complete "tech savvy" where I know how to use every form of digital tool that may be useful in this situation.

One of the CPALMS resources I would use for a second grade class is under the subject of Math. I found an interactive math tutorial for the students to help them estimate measurements using inches, feet, and yards. It is called "Big Brown Bug: Estimating Measurements." Within the tutorial, in order to measure and estimate length, the students must use whatever objects are around them. It seems like it would be a pretty fun way to get my students engaged in learning this topic because it is an interactive game.

The newsletter assignment was a bit of a hassle but I liked how it came out nonetheless. I learned new ways I could be "creative" in the future to engage my students and their parents in the classroom. Looking at others' newsletters though, I wish I knew how to do certain features on Word to make it look more fun and colorful as a newsletter should be. That's one thing I did not like looking back. Mine is sort of the basic concepts we learned in class because thats all I really know how to do at this point, but I still like it and the creativity I put into it. Hopefully I can expand my knowledge more on how to do the certain things that will make my newsletter more appealing to the eye for the future.
