Blog Journal 2

Throughout my years so far in school, and especially now in college, I have used Microsoft Word a lot. It has become something I am very comfortable using. I would mostly use MS Word to write papers and essays, but there are other things I know how to use it for as well. Such as creating simple charts or fitting pictures into one sheet to print them smaller. I have seen my teachers use MS Word as well when giving instructions on assignments or creating a rubric for a project. MS Word has become very easy to use even though I am not a Windows user because I have it on my Mac.

In an educational environment, when it comes to copyright and to avoid plagiarism, my teachers always make sure we as students know to cite our source where we received our information from. As a teacher, I would make sure to have my students do the same to ensure they are not taking someone else's work as their own. Also, I would instill in them the importance of creating their own material and making sure that no one else copies from them with or without their permission because it is considered cheating. As a student myself today, my teachers let us know about academic honesty and not copying from other which not only helps with cheating, but it helps with copyright and fair use for we cannot do certain things with another person's work because it'll get us in trouble either way you put it.

To solve all of these issues within my classroom, I would make my students aware of the harsh consequences that may follow if they are engaged in any of this behavior.
1. Copyright: Require for my students to properly cite all of their sources where their information originated.
2. Cyberbullying: Have certain rules for my students to follow and have them develop a good personal netiquette.
3. Academic Honesty: Have all of my students create their own form of work and making sure they do not copy from one another.

  1. Hello!

I really like your idea of requiring a social netiquette; I forgot about that word, but it is so useful to use when relaying the idea of the internet and it's power to students, especially young one. Also, I think your idea of fixing copyright is the best solution; however how do you plan on carrying out the other two solutions? With the cyberbullying, a set of rules is a good idea, but how will you make sure that each student is using the internet for good and not evil? How will you know that they are not copying from one another? Your thought process is a fantastic one to start with, but I think it needs a little bit more development. Nonetheless, you have some great ideas forming here!
